Michele manages Solidago’s grants processing and supports the Foundation’s office operations and management. Although now settled in Western Massachusetts, Michele grew up in Rochester, New York, home of Susan B. Anthony and (for a time) Frederick Douglass and Emma Goldman. Before joining Solidago in 2006, she worked as a volunteer and paid staff member for several grassroots social change organizations and movements in her hometown, in Boulder, Colorado and Columbus, Ohio.
Michele has a master’s degree from the University of Colorado in creative writing. She worked as a freelance journalist, taught writing at the undergraduate level, and was the director of The Empty Closet, New York state’s oldest LGBTQ community newspaper. In her free time, Michele enjoys improving her Spanish, studying Latin American social movements, reading, bicycling, local organic food, world cinema, and travel.
